Eternal Barbados

The lapping of the waves
The early morning haze
This erstwhile land of slaves -
Barbados.

This Caribbean isle
With its people who beguile
All with warm and friendly smile -
Barbados.

Luscious growth on every hand
Smooth and sparkling strand
But tree frogs should be banned -
Barbados.

Floodlit palm trees, velvet sky
A gentle breeze and leaves that sigh
Warm air - humidity is high -
Barbados.

Hibiscus, jasmine, tamarind
Bougainvillea in the wind
The Trades that many a sail have trimmed -
Barbados.
