One reason why Belgium is green
Why rivers burble in full spate
Why unmade roads good puddles make.
I doubt you find this riddle hard
In this one realm Belgium has starred!
Many road drains cannot cope
With gushing water down the slope.
Those who live here know the score
Always a brolly near the door
A raincoat handy – maybe two
If the first one's got soaked through.
Granted - Wellingtons are not smart
But they're great for dog walks in the dark
You can have your car rain-splashed for free
Plant watering's rarely done by me!
Those cloudbursts, storms and walls of rain
Are - let's admit it – a real pain
But Belgium can't help where it lies
On a weather front of stormy skies.
